For the ninth year the students at Saint Francis collected over $1,500 worth of pet food and supplies for the animals being cared for at the Humane Society of Central Oregon.  Students of all sizes carried bags of cat litter, pet food, toys and cleaning supplies into the animal shelter and presented cash donations totaling $3,457 to the Humane Society of Central Oregon.

The Humane Society of Central Oregon depends on this annual pet food and supply drive to care for the nearly 5,000 animals that enters the shelter annually.  This event is organized by second grade teachers, Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Jacobsen.  The second graders organize and promote their Humane Society pet food and supple drive project for the whole school to participate in.

The fundraiser began on Saint Francis of Assisi‚Äôs feast day.  St. Francis is the patron saint of animals and the environment.   After a few weeks of collecting the students delivered the supplies and monetary donation to the animal shelter on November 3rd.  The students, teachers and parents visited with the animals that will benefit from the supplies and money they worked hard to raise.
