A man died in southwest Redmond early Friday morning from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following a domestic dispute with his wife, said authorities.

Redmond Police officers were dispatched to a residence at Southwest Cascade Mountain Court in response to a 9-1-1 hang-up call about 2:30 a.m. November 10, said Officer April Huey.  Shortly thereafter, a neighbor also called 9-1-1 to report that a woman had allegedly been assaulted and was injured.

Officers arriving on scene spoke with the 36-year old victim who stated that her husband had assaulted her.  She told officers that he was still inside the house and had access to several firearms, Huey wrote in a news release issued by Redmond Police.

Members of the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT) were summoned to assist Redmond Police.  CERT entered the residence and located the husband, deceased at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The deceased has been identified as 37-year old Earl Todd Simpson.

The investigation is continuing, said Huey.
