Shortly after 12:30 a.m., January 21, Bend Police officers were called to a reported burglary at 415 NE Third Street, the location of the Rustic River Restaurant and Lounge, Officer Jason Maniscalco said.

According to a news release, an unidentified employee was inside and heard the suspects force open a window and make entry. The employee called 911, but the suspects had fled on foot prior to officers’ arrival.

Following footprints left in the snow, officers located one suspect, Julius Jacob Ludwig, 36, near Supply Depot at 310 SE Railroad Street and took him into custody. The second suspect has yet to be located, Maniscalco said, but the investigation is ongoing.

Ludwig was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail and is charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief.
