The public is invited to give their comments on the law enforcement deadly force plan developed by Deschutes County planning authority, created under Senate Bill 111.  The bill’s purpose is to establish procedures for law enforcement agencies to follow in dealing with use of deadly physical force.

Deschutes County’s plan will outline education, outreach and training regarding the use of deadly physical force for law enforcement, attorneys employed by the state or local government and community members.  In addition, the plan will have a countywide policy dealing with the investigation and immediate aftermath of an incident in which a police officer used deadly physical force which resulted in the death of another person.

The public hearing will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, 63333 W. Highway 20, Bend, Oregon 97701.
