City Hires New Transportation Engineering Manager

The City of Bend announced today that Mr. Nick Arnis has accepted the position of Transportation Engineering Manager, effective May 10th.  This is a new position within the City of Bend.  The management position is responsible for planning and designing the city's transportation system and overseeing operations including traffic engineering and is also responsible for managing the Public Works Transportation Engineering Division.  Arnis has over 16 years of experience in transportation, engineering and management.

Mr. Arnis was previously employed with the City of Springfield in the position of Transportation Division Manager for over five years.  Prior to this, he was employed with the Oregon Department of Transportation.  In his employment with the City of Springfield, Arnis formed a new Transportation Division and was responsible for the planning and implementation of the city's transportation programs and projects.  He also administered the large and diverse state and local transportation improvements in the rapidly growing Gateway Area of the city.

Mr. Arnis has a Masters of Urban Planning from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Oregon.
