ELDORET, Kenya - The slaying of an Orange Democratic Movement politician in Elderot, Kenya, touched off riots in opposition forts as post-election tension persisted in Kenya.

Police said the deaths of Ainamoi MP David Kimutai, 40, and policewoman Eunice Chepkwony were a "crime of passion," The Daily Nation reported Friday.

"I saw the officer chasing the car at a high speed. I thought the car had been hijacked, but when the car halted, I heard the man (MP) and the lady daring the officer to shoot them," an eye witness said.

Too's death came just two days after the slaying of Parliament freshman, Embakasi MP Melitus Mugabe Were. Members of the Orange Democratic Movement said Too's killing was a political assassination and part of efforts to lessen its Parliament majority.

Police Constable Andrew Moache was arrested in connection with the shooting investigation and appeared in court Friday, an official said.
