Gresham Police officers responded to the call about 9:45 a.m., February 2, and arrived at the couple’s home in the 4100 block of NE El Camino to find Virginia Roberts, 51, dead from a gunshot wound.

Detectives said John Lyle Roberts, also 51, was taken into custody without incident.  Roberts was interviewed, and then booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a single charge of first-degree murder.

This is the city’s first homicide of the year, police said.
