A 36-year old man was arrested for burglary and other related crimes after a homeowner surprised him as he was allegedly stealing food from a refrigerator and freezer in the garage of a northeast Bend home early Monday morning, police reported.
The suspect fled on foot when the homeowner, whose name and exact address police are withholding, encountered Towery in the open and attached garage of his residence on Layton Avenue.
Police responded to the 911 call and, with the help of other area residents, discovered Towery in the backyard of another home and placed him in custody without incident, the lieutenant said.
Towery was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail and is charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree theft, and second-degree criminal trespass and criminal mischief.
