Prineville man arrested in alleged sno-park sex assault

A 37-year old Prineville man was arrested Friday evening in connection with an alleged sexual assault at the Walton Lake Sno-park in the Ochoco National Forest in Crook County, Oregon, deputies reported.

According to Crook County Sheriff’s Detective Travis Jurgens, deputies received a report of a possible rape about 5:20 p.m. Deputies later found the alleged victim was a young girl under the age of 16.

Following an investigation, Joseph Patrick Thompson, 37, of Prineville, was arrested and lodged in the Crook County Jail with bail set at $160,000, Jurgens said.

Thompson was charged with first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, menacing and coercion.
