A tip from a citizen who recognized two “persons of interest” captured in a video recorded in a Prineville Laundromat on February 3 led to their identification and the arrest of one woman for theft, police announced.

It took little more than 48 hours after the video was released to local media on Thursday before Prineville Police had positively identified and arrested Reeta Vista Durbin, 66.

Durbin, who resides at 1264 NW Markuson Drive, was shown accompanied by a male in the video.  The juvenile male was also identified, Chief Eric Bush said, but was not charged with a crime.

Durbin allegedly took about $400 worth of laundered items from the Sunshine Laundry at 389 NW 4th Street between noon and 3 p.m., February 3.

She was arrested Saturday about midnight and was lodged in the Crook County Jail. Durbin was charged with second-degree theft, but has since been conditionally released from jail, Bush said.
