A 50-year old Boring, Oregon man is presumed dead after jumping 145 feet from the Bridge of the Gods to the Columbia River below on Sunday afternoon. Water temperatures hovered in the upper 30s, police reported.
No sign of the man was found during an extensive search by OSP, Skamania and Hood River County Sheriff’s deputies, Cascade Locks Fire Department, and Oregon Department of Transportation. Skamania County Sheriff’s boats patrolled the waters into late afternoon.
Troopers found the man’s identification and a personal note inside the car on the seat. Family members reported last seeing the 50-year old about 11 a.m.
