PAMONA, Calif. - Family members picking up a minivan in a parking lot near the Pomona, Calif., Superior Court found the body of the relative they had reported missing.

The relatives, called by authorities to claim the illegally parked vehicle, discovered the body of their relative, Eileen Nicole Orta, stabbed to death and hidden beneath some blankets and clothing inside the Plymouth Voyager, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

Orta's relatives filed a missing person's report on the 22-year-old La Puente, Calif., resident Feb. 12, giving a full description of Orta and the van, including its license plate, said Lt. Ron McDonald of the Pomona Police Department.

Officials said no one checked the van Friday before contacting the relatives. Orta was pronounced dead at the scene from what was determined to be a stab wound to the neck.

McDonald said the department is trying to determine which agency was responsible for checking the vehicle before the relatives were called.
