A contractor severely damaged two water mains on the 15th fairway of Mountain High Golf Course in south Bend Monday afternoon, sending water flooding through the streets and introducing mud and debris into the water system. 

The City of Bend Public Works Department strongly recommends that residents and businesses in the Mountain High neighborhood area do the following:

*  Bottled water is very strongly recommended for drinking water during the next 60 hours.

*  Flush the plumbing system of your home by running the bathtub faucet for several minutes until the water becomes clear. 

*  Once the bathtub water is flushed clear, run all other faucets for at least five minutes, or until the water becomes clear.

*  Flush all toilets.

The City of Bend Water Division will be active in the area taking water samples from homes and hydrants during the next 60 hours, and will be in communication with area residents. Results of the tests will not be known for at least 20 hours.
