Chinese police kill bus hijacker

BEIJING - An explosives-armed hijacker took 10 Australian tourists hostage Wednesday on a bus in China before police shot and killed him.

During the standoff, the man released all but two of the hostages, a woman and a translator, CNN reported.

Police allowed the man and his captives to move to another bus and travel to an airport, Chinese media reported. Once the bus approached an airport tollbooth and after negotiations failed, police shot the hijacker.
