Albany police ask help to ID bank robber

ALBANY, Ore. -- Albany Police detectives are asking the public’s help to identify a man who held up the Santiam Branch of U.S. Bank on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to the bank at 2650 SE Santiam Highway shortly after 12:30 p.m., March 4 to a report of a bank robbery.

An employee told detectives that a white male in his 50s who stood about 5-foot 10-inches tall and had short grey hair entered the bank and presented a robbery note.

The robber was given an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who then put it into a black and grey backpack and walked out of the bank. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark jacket and baseball hat, detectives said.

No weapon was displayed during the robbery, but the suspect indicated that he was armed, a news release stated.
