PRINEVILLE, Ore. -- An 18-year-old Prineville man was arrested Wednesday morning following a 5 ½ month investigation into the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl at a party held in a private residence, deputies reported.
Jake Keys, 18, struggled briefly and attempted to flee as he was being taken into custody about 8:30 a.m., March 19, Crook County Sheriff’s detective Sgt. Travis Jurgens said.
The rape investigation began October 1, 2007, and after several months of continued investigation, collection of evidence and interviews, Keys was arrested and lodged in the Crook County Jail.
In connection with the alleged October incident, Keys was charged with first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a news release stated.
Because of his reported struggle with the arresting detective and flight attempt, Keys faces additional charges of third-degree escape, resisting arrest, assault on a public safety officer, and second-degree criminal mischief.
His bail was set at $155,000, Sgt. Jurgens reported.
