AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - A right-wing member of the Dutch parliament has posted his film criticizing the Koran on the Web site LiveLeak.
The 17-minute film by Geert Wilders is called "Fitna," a term used in the Koran and sometimes translated as "strife."
The second part focuses on the growing Muslim population in the Netherlands and in Europe, implying that a Muslims have no respect for the freedom of others yet are taking advantage of the freedom they have been given.
The film became controversial long before anyone had seen it, sparking demonstrations in the Netherlands and Muslim countries. Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said he disagrees with the film's equation of Islam and violence, the BBC reported.
"We believe it serves no purpose other than to offend," Balkenende said in a statement. "But feeling offended must never be used as an excuse for aggression and threats."
