LA PINE, Ore. – Although deputies now believe a domestic dispute led to two roommates being shot and injured, and the fatal self-inflicted shooting of a third roommate on Thursday night at a La Pine home, they have yet to establish a motive.
While on their way, another 911 call was received from Reggie Ray Ortega, 35, who ran to a neighbor’s home to report he had been shot.
Ortega was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with reportedly life-threatening injuries, Mills said, as was a second victim, 39-year old Maryann Lynn Hilton, found in the home where the shooting occurred. Both victims had been shot, and remained hospitalized as of Monday, where Ortega was reportedly in fair condition and Hilton in serious condition. 46-year old Jack Rummel Dennis, Sr. was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the home, a news release stated. “It appears that Jack Dennis is the shooter, and there is no outstanding suspect being sought,” the captain said. “The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab continue to investigate this incident. We are still trying to verify what caused this dispute,” Mills said. |
