ONG detachment led by Bend officer returns from Iraq

BEND, Ore. -- The members of the 115 Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, Oregon Army National Guard arrived in Salem, Oregon on Wednesday following their deployment to Iraq in support of Oregon Iraqi Freedom. The unit is commanded by Major Don Troxell of Bend, and includes a second Bend soldier, SSG Margaret Chiyo Nelson.

Families are friends welcomed their arrival at the Anderson Readiness Center (ARC) at about 2:30 p.m.

The formal demobilization ceremony will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 22, at the ARC located at 3225 State Street in Salem.

Governor Ted Kulongoski, Major General Raymond Rees, The Adjutant General, Oregon, Brigadier General Charles Yriarte and 82 Brigade Commander will preside over the ceremonies. Suzanne Kunse, District Director for Congressman Darlene Hooley will also be on hand to welcome the soldiers home.

Family, friends,and community members are invited to attend.
