Bicyclist struck, injured by vehicle

BEND, Ore. – A 39-year old Bend man was struck and injured and a driver cited for making a dangerous left turn in a vehicle vs. bicycle crash on Skyliners Road west of Bend Sunday afternoon, deputies reported.

According to a news release prepared by Deschutes County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Biondi, Jeffrey Evans, 39, was transported to St. Charles Medical Center by Bend Fire paramedics for treatment of injuries to his lower extremities he suffered in the collision near milepost 6 of Skyliners Road on June 8 about 1:20 p.m.

The driver, 19-year-old Alyx Haraway of Bend, was cited and released. He was driving west and initiating a left turn onto a dirt U.S. Forest Service Road when his vehicle’s right-rear quarter panel struck the eastbound bicyclist, Biondi said.

Evans was reportedly in stable condition on Sunday evening, Biondi said.
