PRINEVILLE, Ore. – Both drivers involved in a head-on collision in the Prineville, Oregon, area Monday morning had to be extricated from their vehicles before they were transported to the hospital – one by helicopter and the other by ambulance. Police don’t yet know what caused a delivery truck to cross the centerline and strike an oncoming pickup.

According to a Prineville Police Chief Eric Bush, the collision occurred just before 6:30 a.m., June 9, on NE Third Street west of Combs Flat Road.

Neither the pickup’s driver, a 47-year old Prineville man, or the delivery truck driver, a 56-year old Redmond man, were identified by name.

The Prineville man was flown by Life Flight to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, and the Redmond man was transported by ground ambulance to the same hospital, Bush stated in a news release. Their conditions were unknown.
