Deschutes County Sheriff’s Lt. Shane Nelson said deputies received a report about a hit-and-run incident involving a Chevrolet pickup and some mailboxes in the 64000 block of Valeview Drive about 7:45 p.m., June 10.

Witnesses told deputies that a man driving the white 1999 pickup had fled on foot, and officers found the vehicle, disabled from damage sustained in the crash and abandoned, near Tumalo Road and 89th Street, Nelson said.

Bend Police Officer Lotito and K9 partner “Amor” were called in to help search for the suspect, who was located and arrested without incident near 85th Street and 85th Plaza prior to their arrival.

The suspect, identified as Kyle Anthony Dotson, 34, of Bend, was uninjured, the lieutenant said.  He was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, misdemeanor hit-and-run, and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, Nelson stated in a news release.
