WASHINGTON - Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio show he would like to debate U.S. President Barack Obama.

The host of "The Rush Limbaugh Show" said if Democratic claims that he is the new face of the Republican Party are correct, a debate win by Obama would represent a major party victory, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

"If you can wipe me out in a debate ... do you realize you will own the United States of America?" Limbaugh said on his show Wednesday. "You will have no opposition."

Limbaugh was responding to a reported White House campaign that began this week that attempts to portray the outspoken radio host as the current GOP figurehead.

The powerful conservative pundit also used his radio time Wednesday to mock Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

The Daily News said Limbaugh made reference to Emanuel's ballet dancing past when saying Obama shouldn't hand off the debate challenge to a lesser party official.
