Oregon man kidnaps, beats friend suspected of having affair with wife

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. – A 35-year old North Plains man who suspected his long-time friend of having an affair with his wife was arrested Monday for allegedly kidnapping him, threatening him with a large knife and realistic-looking pellet gun, and beating him causing multiple bone fractures in his face.

According to a news release issued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Jose “Juan” Neri-Bazan was taken into custody and lodged in the county jail in lieu of $250,000 bail. He was charged with first-degree kidnap, second-degree assault, first-degree mincing, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Deputies said on March 9 Neri-Bazan decided to force a confession of an affair from his friend, a 37-year old man from Lake Oswego whose identity was not released. The suspect allegedly lured the victim to a remote location in the unincorporated community of Manning in western Washington County, pointed a gun at the victim and brandished a large knife.

“At some point in the ordeal, the victim was able to wrestle the gun away and discard it,” deputies said. Investigation showed the “gun” was actually a pellet gun that looks similar to a Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol.

After repeatedly striking the victim in the face, Neri-Bazan dropped the victim off in a public area, deputies said. The victim was treated in the emergency room of the Meridian Park Hospsital in Tualatin for multiple facial fractures when the police were notified about 10:30 p.m., March 9, the news release stated.
