WASHINGTON -- U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Tuesday she will undergo chemotherapy as part of her post-pancreatic cancer surgery treatment.
"I am scheduled to undergo a precautionary, post-surgery course of chemotherapy at the National Institutes of Health," Ginsburg said in a statement posted on the Supreme Court's Web site.
The treatments, scheduled to begin in late March, "are not expected to affect my schedule at the court," the statement said. "Thereafter, it is anticipated that I will require only routine examinations to assure my continuing good health."
Ginsburg, who turned 76 Sunday, underwent pancreatic cancer surgery Feb. 5 at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
