SANAA, Yemen -- Yemeni officials said a suicide bomber Wednesday targeted South Korean officials in Sanaa to investigate a recent attack that killed four South Korean tourists.
Witnesses said the attacker waited for the convoy with the investigators along a road leading to Sanaa International airport and detonated the explosives in front of the vehicles, reported Saba, the official Yemeni government news agency.
The investigators were going to the airport to return home, KUNA, the Kuwait News Agency said.
No injuries were reported, but the vehicles sustained some damage.
Yemeni officials blame al-Qaida militants for Sunday's attack that occurred when the tourists and others were photographing the sunset on a mountain in Shebam in eastern Yemen. Also killed was a Yemeni guide and six others were injured.
Yemeni Deputy Interior Minister Saleh al-Zawari Tuesday met the South Korean delegation led by Korean Ambassador to Yemen Won-ho Kwak, KUNA said. During the meeting, Yemeni officials updated the Korean delegation on the investigation into Sunday's attack.
