Search and Rescue Seeks Volunteers

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue is seeking volunteers.  No prior experience is required, but volunteers must commit to 60 hours of general training and complete medical and other search and rescue certifications.

Applications are available at the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and will be accepted through January 31st. Applicants must be 21 or older, and have the flexibility to respond to emergencies at any time, day or night.

Candidates must also complete an interview, pass a criminal and driving history background check and meet certain physical requirements. Volunteers will be expected to devote time each month to training, demonstrates good teamwork and be able to handle rugged conditions in the backcountry.

Application packets will be available at the main Sheriff’s Office reception window, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, January 3 - 31, 2007.  Application required and accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 (Postmark accepted).
