BEND, Ore. – A 24-year old Beaverton woman was rescued after she was injured late Saturday morning when her snowmobile rolled over onto her leg near Moon Mountain, deputies reported.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Cpl. Wayne Morgan said Laika Rodriguez was riding in poor visibility about 10:50 a.m., March 28, on Trail 7 just north of Trail Junction 180 when she hit a snow berm causing the snowmobile to roll. She was wearing a helmet at the time, the corporal added.

A U.S. Forest Service employee and a County Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteer were patrolling snowmobile trails in the area and came upon the accident, a news release stated. They rendered aid while a team of nine SAR volunteers responded, Morgan said.

Rodriguez was transported by ambu-sled to Dutchman Sno Park, where she was then transferred to the care of Bend Fire paramedics and taken by ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend where she was being treated for leg injuries.
