Two nabbed with six pounds of pot

TUALATIN, Ore. – Two California men were arrested Saturday night at a local gas station in connection with the alleged sale of marijuana from their vehicle. Officers discovered over six pounds of pot inside, some in plain view and all with an overwhelming odor.

A Tualatin Police officer was dispatched to the Shell Gas Station at 7090 Nyberg Street shortly after 10 p.m., April 4, to reported suspicious activity. While speaking with the driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle, Officer Montrose smelled what was described as a strong odor, and observed marijuana in plain sight.

According to a news release, a Hillsboro Police Officer and his drug-detecting dog, Riley, responded and discovered six pounds four ounces of dried and packaged marijuana in various parts of the vehicle. Weight scales were also located, officers said.

The two California men, both from Willits, were taken into custody and lodged in the Washington County Jail. They were identified as Eric Kooyers and Kevin Huff, both 37. Kooyers and Huff will face charges of possession and distribution of a controlled substance.
