Traffic stop leads to arrest, 10 pounds of pot, loaded firearm

ASHLAND, Ore. – A Woolley, Washington man was arrested Tuesday after more than ten pounds of marijuana and a loaded firearm were discovered in his SUV during a traffic stop by an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper on Interstate-5 near Ashland.

According to OSP Lt. Brian Powers, just before noon 29-year old Kevin M. Mills was pulled over while traveling north in a 2008 GMC Yukon near milepost 11 on Interstate-5. The pot, valued at about $25,000, was discovered in large bags inside the vehicle, and the handgun was found concealed near the driver’s seat.

Mills was taken into custody and lodged in the Jackson County Jail, although he has since been released on bail. He was charged with the manufacture, possession and delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm, troopers reported.
