LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- The U.S.-led coalition forces in Afghanistan said Friday they killed at least 27 suspected insurgents in recent conflicts.
Coalition forces said in a statement that 15 suspected Taliban members were killed in Afghanistan's Helmand province in airstrikes, while an another 12 militants died during patrol attacks in the Uruzgan province, the BBC said.
No Afghan or coalition casualties were incurred during Friday's conflicts, the coalition said.
The death tolls from the conflicts in the provinces, both rife with Taliban activity, came in the wake of a five suspected militant deaths in the city of Kandahar.
The BBC said Friday's attacks also followed a coalition operation in the Khost province that left at least four civilians dead and another two injured.
The British broadcaster said the deadly encounters come as an additional 17,000 U.S. troops are being sent to Afghanistan to support the 38,000 U.S. soldiers deployed there.
