PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Happy Valley man who volunteered with the Rex Putnam High School girls’ soccer team has been arrested and accused of a dozen crimes in connection with an alleged sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student, deputies reported. The suspect is currently an assistant coach for a club soccer program in the Portland metro area.

Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Travis Ferguson on Tuesday after an investigation was initiated by the School Resource Officer for Rex Putnam High School, a news release stated.

20-year-old Ferguson is a resident of Happy Valley, Oregon and is now coaching for Thelo United soccer program. Detectives believe the relationship with the girl developed during the time Ferguson coached the girl in Thelo, and not during his time at Rex Putnam High School.

Deputies said there is potential for Ferguson to “have other victims due to his position as a coach”. Anyone with information about other possible victims or this case are asked to call Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at (503) 723-4949.

Ferguson will face nine counts of third-degree sexual abuse and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, all Class A misdemeanors. Deputies reported that he has been released from the Clackamas County Jail and has been directed not to have any contact with persons under age 18 at this time.
