Children & Families Advocacy Board seeks volunteer members

BEND, Ore. -- The Deschutes County Commission on Children & Families seeks qualified candidates for Commission openings as well as volunteers for action teams and special projects.

The Commission is a lay citizen board that is composed of up to 17 residents of Deschutes County. The Board achieves their charge by bringing together citizens, service providers and policy makers to address local needs and to find long-term solutions. The Commission's goal is to ensure all local children and youth are safe, healthy, well-educated and valued members of the community. 

The Commission is seeking candidates from Bend, La Pine, Redmond, Sisters and Terrebonne. Experience, representation, and skill sets are needed in the areas of: Early childhood development, pre-school/elementary education, business and marketing, community leadership and policymaking, juvenile community justice, the Latino (bi-lingual) and faith communities.

Individuals whose primary income is derived from either offering direct service to children and youth or being an administrator for a program for children and youth are NOT eligible to serve on the Commission Board.

The Deschutes County Board of Commissioners and the Presiding Judge of the Circuit Court make appointments to the Commission.
