Governor orders flags at half-staff in memory of Oregon soldier

Flags to be Lowered Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Honor of Private First Class Richard Allen Dewater
SALEM, Ore. - Thursday Governor Ted Kulongoski ordered all flags at public institutions to be flown at half-staff on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in memory of Private First Class Richard Allen DeWater of Grants Pass, OR.

DeWater, 21, died April 15, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device, while on a dismounted patrol near Korengal Valley, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
