Bend Police say a bomb threat received by Summit High School Thursday afternoon appears to be a hoax, and that a thorough search failed to turn up any physical evidence.

Officers of the Bend Police Department responded to the school at 2855 NW Clearwater Drive about 1:20 this afternoon when they received a report of a bomb threat, said Sgt. Brian Kindel.

A complete search of the entire school conducted by several police officers, school staff, and “Amor” (a Bend Police K-9 unit) failed to turn up any evidence of a bomb, said the sergeant.  Early information, he added, indicates this incident appears to be a hoax.

No specific details of the threat or possible criminal charges against the person responsible are being released due to the ongoing investigation.
