Salem Police release video of convenience store robbery

Salem Police have released video of an armed robbery that took place Jan. 5 at the Plaid Pantry in northeast Salem, in hopes that someone will recognize the robber whom they believe held up two convenience stores within hours of each other.  In both cases, the suspect matched the same description and was carrying a rifle.

The Plaid Pantry at 1504 NE Broadway Street was held up about 2 a.m., and the Circle K at 2495 NE Fairgrounds Road was hit shortly after 5 a.m., said Lt. Dan Deitz.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or white male, 18-20 years of age, standing 5-10” to 6-feet tall.  He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.

During both robberies, the suspect entered the store armed with a rifle, demanded money, and fled on foot, the lieutenant said.  When officers the area, they were unable to locate anyone matching the description of the suspect.

Both robberies remainl under investigation, and Lt. Deitz asks that anyone who may recognize the individual shown in the video, or persons who may have information about the cases, should please call detectives of the Salem Police Department at 503-588-6050.
