Detectives, forensic personnel, and medical examiners are investigating the suspicious death of an unidentified body found Friday morning in the Baldock Rest Area near milepost 282 off Interstate-5, and south of Wilsonville, Oregon State Police (OSP) reported.

The body was found about 11:20 a.m. on Jan. 26 by an Oregon Department of Transportation employee who was performing maintenance duties near the rear parking lot in the south section of the rest area, said troopers.  The decomposed body, which appeared to be an adult male, was discovered in a thick brushy area about 100 yards south of the paved parking lot.

OSP detectives from Portland and Salem responded to the scene, and the investigation is continuing.  The manner and cause of death are not known, but OSP troopers classified it as a “suspicious death”.

The body will be taken to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office in Portland for further forensic examination in an attempt to obtain positive identification and determine a cause of death.
