A resident escaped injury Saturday morning when he fled his mobile home after hearing electrical arcing and discovering a small fire near the main electrical panel of his Tumalo Road residence, Bend Fire Captain Mark Taylor reported.

Ronald Spencer of 20633 Tumalo Road called 9-1-1 after discovering the fire about 10:20 a.m. January 27, said Captain Taylor, and was wise to cut off power to the small trailer before help arrived.

Fifteen firefighters responded to the scene and quickly contained the fire to the wall and ceiling near the area of origin.  Fire investigators determined the fire was likely caused by a loose electrical masthead arcing in the main electrical panel.

Spencer’s home sustained an estimated $2,500 in damage, with an additional $100 in loss of contents, the captain said.
