Bend police catch man in motel armed robbery

Police officers searched for, located, and arrested a Bend man accused of armed robbery at the Super 8 motel early this morning, authorities reported.

Shortly before 3 a.m. February 1, officers responded to the motel at 1275 SE Third Street to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred, Sgt. Kurt Koester said.

The suspect reportedly entered the business, displayed a handgun, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers set up a perimeter in the area and eventually located the suspect, Marc C. Manners, 44, of Bend, in the 400 block of SE Reed Market Road, the sergeant said.

Manners was taken into custody without incident, and police recovered the money stolen and handgun allegedly used in the robbery.

The suspect was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail in lieu of $130,000 bail and will face charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree theft.
