Cascade Healthcare Community Board announced Thursday the selection of Jim Diegel as CHC’s president and Chief Executive Officer, to be effective immediately. The board also adopted a new organizational structure designed to ensure the future of quality healthcare in central Oregon.
According to Stan Shepardson, Chair, CHC spent the past several months identifying the attributes that they believed the community needs in the CEO position at Cascade Healthcare Community, and to clarify the organizational structure required for continued success.
While prepared to launch a national search to fill those needs, it was recognized that the interim CEO, Jim Diegel had exactly the qualities required. Diegel had previously served as the executive director of the Central Oregon District Hospital in Redmond, and was instrumental in engineering the merger between St. Charles Medical Center and the Central Oregon District Hospital. He served well as the chief operating officer in Redmond before becoming CHC’s senior vice president for administration and systems integration. Because of his integrity and strong leadership, Diegel was promoted to interim president/CEO in February of this year.
An evaluation of the organization structure of CHC resulted in the decision that a national search will be conducted to fill the newly created position of Executive Vice President. The new EVP will have an internal focus and be responsible for operations and financial performance.
The change will allow the president/CEO to focus externally, providing strategic direction that will tie the healthcare community together.
In a press release issued by CHC, Shepardson says “We have now secured one of the brightest healthcare executives in the country in Jim Diegel.”
