Prineville Police have released few details into the apparent suicide of an 18-year-old male Crook County High School student who was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head about 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The teen, who was later identified as Mark Adams Hollingsworth of 2532 SE Klamath Road in Prineville, was found in the parking lot of Crook County High School at 1100 SE Lynn Blvd.

“The investigation determined that the gunshot wound was most likely self-inflicted,” said Chief Eric Bush, adding that a handgun was recovered at the scene.

The school was placed into lockdown as a precaution, Bush said, but students were allowed to leave at their normally scheduled time.

An investigation by Prineville Police and the Crook County Sheriff’s Office is continuing.
