Jim Diegel Resigns from Redmond School Board

The Redmond School Board accepted the resignation of board member Jim Diegel, effective June 30, 2006.  Diegel was appointed to the board in May 2003 to complete the term of Neil Thompson.  He served as vice chair for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 school years.

"Jim has contributed tremendously to the work of the board during the last three years," said Chair Tim Carpenter. "Our discussions as a board have been enriched by his keen insights, good humor and dedication to the success of students in our district."

Diegel recently accepted the position as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cascade Healthcare Community.  Understanding that his new role as chief executive will require his full attention and energy, Diegel feels that he will be unable to commit the time and focus needed to be an effective board member.

“Many thanks to my fellow board members and to our talented teachers, administrators, support staff, and volunteers who create the opportunities for our students to learn,” stated Diegel.  “It has been an absolute pleasure serving as a school board member for three years.”

The board will be seeking qualified people to fill the position vacated by Diegel. The individual appointed will serve until June 30, 2007.  To be eligible, interested individuals must be registered voters in the district and residents within the district for one year immediately preceding the appointment.  No person who is an employee of the district is eligible to serve as a Board member while so employed.

Applications will be taken at the District Office until Friday, June 30, 2006, at 5:00 p.m.   Interviews will be scheduled for July 12, 2006.  Those interested in serving on the Committee and who would like an application or more information may contact Board Secretary Shelley Knutz at 923-8250.
