A Harney County man is in custody following his recent arrest related to a 19-count indictment alleging kidnap and unlawful sexual contact with three females under the age of 14, Oregon State Police (OSP) reported.

OSP have assigned a detective to investigate the possibility that other children may have been victimized, and have tasked him with gathering information to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Donald William Read, 54, of rural Harney County, was arraigned Friday, February 9, in Harney County Circuit Court.  Read was indicted by the Grand Jury of Harney County on the following 19 counts:

• Kidnap in the First Degree (2 counts)
• Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (12 counts)
• Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree (4 counts)
• Harassment (1 count)

OSP Criminal Investigations Division began an investigation January 4, 2007, into the allegations that were presented before the Grand Jury of Harney County. The three victims were known to the suspect.
