Lapine Man Victim of Shooting

A 53 year old Lapine resident, Kenneth Wagner, was shot and critically injured at about 11 pm on Tuesday, June 20th.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office responded to 16022 Strawn Road to find Wagner outside the residence with a gunshot wound to the torso.

After deputies secured the scene, Wagner was treated by fire personnel of the Lapine Fire Department and transported by Airlife to St. Charles Medical Center-Bend. As of Wednesday morning, Wagner was reported to be in critical condition.

Detectives and deputies from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office investigated the shooting incident.  They were able to determine that Norman Page, 57, of Lapine had fired at Wagner once.

Detectives serving a search warrant at the Strawn Road address as a part of the investigation found a large quantity of marijuana, according to Sgt. Deron McMaster.

Page was arrested and booked into the Deschutes County Adult Jail on Assault I with a firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
