After a four-month nationwide search, the Humane Society of Central Oregon’s Board of Directors announced today the selection of a new executive director.  Pat Roden, a well-known former Bend resident with extensive non-profit and business development experience, will take the helm effective March 5.

Roden most recently served two years as district director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Modesto, California.  She brings an extensive background in both non-profit and for profit businesses, and is not a newcomer to Bend.

Roden previously lived in the community for 14 years, serving a four-year term as director of the Bend Resource Center.  Her experience in Central Oregon’s non-profit arena also includes the regional director position with the Easter Seal Society, and director for the School to Career Alliance program.  Roden’s business development experience is derived from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, Lumbermen’s Insurance and Financial Services, and ISky.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Humane Society of Central Oregon as their Executive Director to help make a difference in the lives of animals and the community,” said Roden.   “I am very pleased to return to Bend, the city I love, and team up again with many friends, business, and community members.”

Cherie Brooks, HSCO’s Board of Directors President, said of Roden’s selection, “We’re looking forward to working with Pat and putting her broad range of skills and experience to work on behalf of the animals and people in Central Oregon.”
