IdaTech names new President/CEO

IdaTech, LLC, a global fuel cell solutions developer and manufacturer based in Bend, announced Thursday that Claude Duss has resigned as President and Chief Executive Officer, for personal reasons. Harol (Hal) Koyama has been appointed as IdaTech’s new President and Chief Executive Officer.
Harol (Hal) Koyama was named new President/CEO of IdaTech on Mar. 1. Duss had been commuting between Northern California and Bend, Oregon since he relocated to the southern state near the end of 2006, and cited personal and lifestyle reasons for his decision. He will provide transition support to the company until the end of this year. “Claude has added great value to IdaTech, guiding its development to a world class fuel cell and reforming company. We will appreciate his continued support during transition,” said Koyama. “We are in a very good position to take advantage of IdaTech’s leading technology position and emerging commercial markets,” he added. Koyama has been with IdaTech since 2003, serving as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and most recently also responsible for Product Engineering and R&D. Koyama has more than ten years of diversified international business experience in onsite generation applications within the Combined Heat and Power, Oil and Gas, Waste Fuel and other power generation markets. Prior to IdaTech, Koyama was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Capstone Turbine Corporation (Capstone), a leading micro-turbine producer. Before Capstone, he was Vice President of Business Development for fuel cell company International Fuel Cells, a United Technologies Corporation (UTC) business. Koyama also spent three years at the UTC corporate headquarters, focusing on mergers and acquisitions. He has over five years experience as a management consultant with the international consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he focused on energy and operations issues. Koyama holds a degree in Physics/Mathematics from the University of Oregon, a Masters Equivalent in Nuclear Engineering from United States Navy where he served as Nuclear Submarine Officer, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
