Banking interests in Oregon are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a violent serial bank robber operating in the Portland metro area, the FBI announced today.

$5,000 reward is offered for the “Stocking Cap Robber”
The Financial Institutions Security Task Force (FIST), sponsored by the Oregon Bankers Association and the Credit Union Association of Oregon, is contributing up to $5,000 toward the reward fund. FIST is a cooperative effort made up of representatives from banks, credit unions and law enforcement agencies, with the sole purpose of reducing crimes committed against financial institutions.

The suspect, nicknamed the "Stocking Cap Robber", displays a handgun in his unusual "takeover" style bank robberies. The first robbery occurred January 17 at the West Coast Bank branch located at 11690 SE 82nd Avenue in Clackamas. The same man is believed to be responsible for a second robbery at the same bank branch on Tuesday, March 27.  In both cases, he wore a black stocking cap. In the first robbery, he wore dark goggles over his eyes. In the second robbery, he wore dark sunglasses with a red bandana over his face. In both cases, he announced his presence, pointed the handgun at those close to him and ordered most people in the bank to the ground.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-to-late 20’s, 5-foot 11-inches tall, weighing 170-180 pounds with a slender build.

In the January robbery, he wore a black stocking cap, dark goggles, a black vest, black gloves, a dark blue long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans.  He carried a blue pillowcase.

In the robbery earlier this week, he wore a black stocking cap, black sunglasses, red bandana, green jacket, black gloves, and faded blue jeans.  He carried a white canvas bag.

Anyone with information on either of these cases or the suspect is asked to contact the Portland FBI office at (503) 224-4181.
