A Bend man was critically injured on Friday afternoon about 3 pm, July 7, when his motorcycle collided with a pickup at the intersection of O.B. Riley Road and Archie Briggs in north Bend.

According to Lt. Darling of the Bend Police Department, preliminary investigation indicates that Jacob T. Ralston, age 34, was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle south bound on O.B. Riley Road approaching Archie Briggs.

John Erhad, a 47 year old Bend resident, was stopped at the intersection in his Chevrolet pickup. Believing he had enough time and space to complete the turn, he pulled out into the roadway turning northbound on O.B. Riley.

The motorcyclist braked, but was unsuccessful in avoiding the collision. Ralson crashed into the driver’s side of the pickup, Lt. Darling said.

Ralston was transported by Bend Fire Department Medics to the Emergency Room of St. Charles-Bend where he was reported to be in critical condition.

The accident remains under investigation.

The accident occurred at the intersection of OB Riley Road and Archie Briggs.
