About 8:40 p.m. April 9, Bend Police officers were called to a reported injury crash at NW Torrey Pines Drive and NW Black Pines Drive, Sgt. Chris Carney said.

Upon arrival, they found David Joseph Becker, 23, had been speeding in his 1999 Subaru Forester westbound on Torrey Pines Drive when he hit a parked, and thankfully unoccupied, Isuzu Rodeo owned by Lithia Motors.  Carney said the Isuzu was pushed over 40-feet into a house owned by Eric Leyden.

The crash sent Becker’s passenger, 21-year old Bend resident Jessica Harrison to St. Charles Medical Center with “serious, but non life-threatening injuries”, the sergeant said, adding that she was in stable condition early Tuesday morning.  No other injuries were reported.

The initial investigation determined that alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, Carney said.

Becker was taken into custody and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail.  He is charged with second-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, and reckless driving.
