This afternoon at Springwater Trail High School in the Gresham-Barlow School District, a rifle shot went through the window of a top floor classroom occupied by students, prompting an immediate school lockdown.

No students were injured by the shot, but two students suffered minor cuts from broken glass.

School authorities notified the Gresham Police Department immediately, and the high school and nearby Hogan Cedars Elementary School were placed into “lockdown”.

A lockdown is defined as a situation where students are kept within their classrooms or inside the building until it has been established that an emergency or dangerous situation no longer exists.  During a lockdown, the schools operate as usual with the exception that recesses are held indoors.

The Gresham Police Department is conducting an investigation.
